Introduction
The Intractable Disease Support and Consultation Office was established with the aim of supporting patients living with rare and intractable diseases, as well as their families, within the local community. Through attentive consultation and tailored support that addresses a wide range of individual needs, we strive to alleviate concerns related to medical care and daily life, and to promote a supportive environment for patients in the community.
About Our Department's Services
Activities of the Intractable Disease Support and Consultation Office:
- Accepting consultations from primary care physicians.
- Coordinating the admission and care of patients with rare and intractable diseases.
- Collecting information on diagnostically challenging cases, in collaboration with national support networks for intractable diseases.
- Providing consultations to patients following a confirmed diagnosis.
- Organizing training sessions and case conferences for primary care physicians.
- Accepting applications for respite hospitalization under the Saitama Prefectural Temporary Hospitalization Program for Patients with Intractable Diseases.
- Collaborating with public employment service agencies to provide consultation, assistance, and information related to employment.
- Offering support to patients with hereditary intractable diseases and their families, in cooperation with the Genetic Counseling Office.
- Supporting the organization of lectures and social gatherings for patients.

A Base Hospital for Intractable Disease Treatment Coordination
Since February 2019 (Heisei 31), our hospital has been officially designated by Saitama Prefecture as a
Coordinating Hospital for Rare and Intractable Diseases.
Our office is staffed with Intractable Disease Care Coordinators who provide consultations regarding clinical
collaboration from both primary care physicians and patients. Through this system, we strive to facilitate the
early diagnosis of rare and intractable diseases that are often difficult to identify.
