November 17,2020 Update
The Cancer Care Support Office is a department that was established for the purpose of enhancing cancer care in our hospital and promoting regional partnerships related to cancer care.
The Cancer Control Act was established in June 2006 for the promotion of cancer prevention and early detection, the promotion of the uniformity of cancer medicine, and the promotion of medical research by institutions, physicians and medical personnel was published as a basic plan for the promotion of cancer control. The basic promotion plan for cancer control was reviewed in March 2018, and it required the development of a system to receive appropriate medical care, to provide cancer genome medicine, and to improve the social environment. In this context, we were designated as a Regional Base Hospital for Cancer Treatment Collaboration in January 2007 and a Center for Cancer Genomics and Advanced Therapeutics in April 2018. Furthermore, in April 2020, our hospital was designated as a regional cancer cooperation center (advanced type). In the Cancer Care Support Office, we conduct activities both in and out of the hospital, including coordination between each department, the patient's support system, and the improvement of the understanding of cancer treatment by the medical professionals in the hospital and local medical institutions in order to be able to perform cancer treatment across departments and across organs. All of the staff including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and clerical personnel work together to ensure high quality cancer treatment.
Designation of Regional Base Hospital for Cancer Treatment Collaboration (advanced type) and details about the cancer treatment support room
Designation requirements for regional base hospitals for cancer treatment collaboration include 1. Medical treatment framework, 2. Medical treatment results, 3. Framework for providing training, 4. Framework for information collection and provision, 5. Clinical research and investigative research, 6. Establishment of the PDCA cycle, and 7. Medical safety management. Please refer to Regional Base Hospitals for cancer treatment collaboration (advanced type) for details. We met these requirements, and the Cancer Care Support Office was established with 12 employees in April 2008 in order to shoulder the responsibility of the Regional Base Hospital for Cancer Treatment Collaboration, and as a result of increasing the number of employees in accordance with the increase in business activities, it is now operated by 24 staff members of many professions.
We are working closely with each medical department, division, and the administrative department to promote each of the businesses, which are essential for a Regional Base Hospital for Cancer Treatment Collaboration and to enhance the hospital cancer treatment.
In addition, our hospital is one of the leading regional cancer treatment base hospitals in Saitama Prefecture, where approximately 3,000 people have been registered for cancer treatment during the year, we are continuing to support these activities in order to develop cancer treatments that utilizes the characteristics of our hospital being a general hospital.
Recent studies have found that "cancer" develops due to any accumulation of alterations in various genes, and that the alterations of the genes differ for each individual patient. Cancer Genome Medicine is the next generation of cancer treatment that reveals the individual (cause) of the cancer and provides patients with more suitable treatment information. Knowing your own cancer at the genetic level can help you choose a treatment policy such as a therapeutic drug and can reduce the side effects and alleviate your medical condition. In addition, the targets for this medical treatment are subjects who have finished the standard treatment and who do not have a cure. Treatments covered by insurance are provided in collaboration with a Genome Medicine Collaboration Hospital. Please refer to the Department of Genome Medicine for details.

The kashinoki(oak) tree is the tree of Kawagoe city. The "kashi" is an evergreen tree that provides moisture to citizens' lives throughout the four seasons, it has been rooted in the soil of this region for a long time and is a familiar tree for a disaster prevention forest and as a windbreak for mansions. Moreover, because it is a hard material, it is also used as a grip for farming tools such as a hoe and a plow, and it plays a role to support the citizens' lives.
The patient library in our hospital is named [The Patient Library (Kashinoki library/chat room)] with the thought that it is possible to help the patient and the family rooted in Kawagoe city and the neighboring area like the kashinoki tree in Kawagoe.

Our hospital is in the Kawagoe-Hiki medical region. This is the largest acute-stage general hospital among the cancer treatment base hospitals in Saitama Prefecture.
We are committed to providing trusted, safe, and high-quality medical care for cancer patients from the region.
From the standpoint of an acute general hospital, we can respond to cancer patients with various comorbidities, and we are ready to accept emergency cancer patients immediately.
Our hospital provides oncogene panel testing covered by insurance in cooperation with the Cancer Genome Medicine Base Hospital for patients who have undergone standard treatment for rare cancer and cancer of unknown primary, and are physically strong enough to continue undergoing drug therapy (anticancer drug, molecular target drug, etc.).
After testing, we conduct clinical trials and provide genetic counseling accordingly based on the test results.
