Endoscopy Center

In April 2017, we relocated to the third floor and expanded our endoscopy department, and we started working as a new Endoscopy Center. The examination rooms normally consist of five endoscope rooms and two fluoroscopy endoscope rooms, each with the latest equipment. The image of a conventional endoscope room has been updated with paintings, images of the "Endoscopy Center in the Woods" from the reception, the hallway to the waiting room with chairs placed along.

Endoscopy was developed in Japan, and our technology is still leading the world. Innovative technology that improves the level of early diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer, esophageal cancer and colon cancer is being created every year. The endoscopic approach to biliary pancreatic disease has also been boldly attempted, and there are a number of treatments that have realized that are less invasive for patients. At this center, we enrich our staff so as not to lose out on the speed of development and we always incorporate the latest equipment.

We can observe and treat the digestive tract from the esophagus to the anus, the biliary tract, pancreas, and part of the liver using a tool called an endoscope. It has been called a "stomach camera" for a long time, but it is now possible to treat not only the stomach, but also a lot of other diseases.

In addition to the conventional gastric X-ray screening (using barium) for gastric cancer, gastric endoscopy has been available from 2015. If cancer is found early, it can be almost completely cured if an abnormality was observed with a stomach X-ray examination or stomach endoscopy examination by doing a thorough inspection at the Endoscopy Center. The same applies to the colon and esophagus.

Let us do an endoscopy of the upper digestive tract for those with symptoms such as stomach ache, a stomach that feels heavy, or anemia. We may be able to find the disease that is the cause. It is also possible to check whether it is Helicobacter pylori. It is also possible to treat for the sterilization of Helicobacter pylori.

Since we opened the Endoscopy Center, we have a system to perform endoscopy at all times. The application in the hospital is a system where we can always respond through outpatient of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology or through a doctor on duty. In addition, when you apply from external medical institutions, first please contact the outpatient of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and patients with symptoms and conditions that appear to be appropriate for endoscopic examination can be urgently accepted. This center usually conducts endoscopic examinations every day. Endoscope treatment is also able to cope with gastrointestinal bleeding at all times. In addition, esophageal, gastric, and colorectal cancers can be resected by ESD. In particular, in April this year, we welcomed a new director and early cancer treatment using ESD techniques has been further enhanced. ESD is performed primarily every Monday and Thursday. The Center also actively conducts ERCP related treatments for biliary pancreatic diseases. Bile duct pancreatic duct drainage, stent insertion, liver-gastric anastomosis or biliary tract-duodenal anastomosis is performed for occlusive jaundice and cholangitis, biliary tract calculus disease, biliary tract cancer, pancreatitis, and pancreatic cancer almost weekly. The biopsy for diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is carried out using EUS-FNA, striving for a histological diagnosis. In addition, endoscopic necrosectomy (necrosis tissue removal) is performed to treat refractory pancreatitis with removal of necrotic tissue due to severe pancreatitis by cutting the stomach and making a window to allow the endoscope to go out of the stomach to the "outside."
