September 2,2019 Update
In the Department of Clinical Laboratory, we are responsible for laboratory tests of blood and urine, examination for infectious diseases, physiological function examinations such as EKG and EEG, and ultrasound examinations. These clinical tests are performed to properly understand the condition of the disease and are the basis for proper diagnosis and treatment. For this reason, the Department of Clinical Laboratory strives to "report the correct results quickly" 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For example, the examination results are reported to the electronic medical record within 60 minutes after the blood collection is finished in the central blood collection room. As a result, the outpatient physician can conduct safe and high-quality medical treatment based on the test results that day. In order to achieve a goal to balance "accuracy" and "speed", which is not easy, the Department of Clinical Laboratory conducts thorough accuracy management, improvement of technology, efficiency of work, and introduction of new inspection methods. For example, the inspection for tuberculosis had previously taken many weeks, but we have been able to report accurate results in about three hours with the introduction of the latest genetic testing, and this contributes to the rapid start of treatment and the execution of appropriate hospital infection measures. In addition, in order to relieve the pain and the long waiting time for blood collection, which becomes a further burden to the patient, we strive not only to improve the technology but also to improve hospitality and renovate the facility equipment.
In addition, we are involved in a wide range of activities such as a diabetes class, kidney disease class, and blood glucose self-measurement guidance for patients, we support examinations inquiries, explanations of new examinations, and clinical research support for doctors, and perform on-site inspections and inspection assistance in wards and operating rooms, and support medical safety, infection countermeasures, and nutritional support, etc., for the entire hospital medical team. Also, we are aiming to obtain accreditation with international standards for clinical laboratories by increasing the ability of the Department of Clinical Laboratory in order to respond to the rapid advancement and individualization of medicine as represented by Cancer genome medicine, and we are promoting the renovation of the examination rooms with a view on the ideal way of medicine and examinations in ten years and 20 years from now.
All of the staff of the Department of Clinical Laboratory have the highest priority goal of becoming a laboratory to help provide the best and optimal medical treatment.
